Olivia Wilde's film The Invite premieres at Sundance Film Festival

Olivia Wilde's new film "The Invite" opened in a small number of cinemas on June 26, 2026, after its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Wilde directed the film and also appears in it as one of the four main characters. Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton complete the cast. The story follows two couples who spend an evening together in a San Francisco apartment, where conversation gradually reveals tension in their relationships. The screenplay was written by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, and the film is based on a 2020 Spanish production. The distributor A24 handled the theatrical release. Most critics responded positively, though some felt the pacing and certain stylistic decisions did not fully work. This is Wilde's third film as a director.
