Ohio congressman refuses to leave race despite abuse allegations

Republican congressman Max Miller has said he will stay in his reelection race, after his ex-wife accused him of domestic violence and child abuse in August 2026. Miller denied everything, saying he had never hurt his ex-wife or daughter. His legal team showed documents to the Associated Press proving that earlier allegations had been investigated and not confirmed. Miller has also filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife. The case has caused an unusual split inside the Republican Party. Miller's ex-father-in-law, Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio, said Miller was not fit to serve. Some other Republican officials have also called on Miller to drop out. Miller compared his situation to Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and said he believed he could win.
