Nvidia faces competition from chips it previously sold to customers

Nvidia's finance chief has said the company expects revenue to grow by about 70% in its 2028 financial year. Colette Kress made the forecast at a recent earnings call. She also noted that some older Nvidia chips, shipped six years ago, are still running at full capacity. Cloud companies may decide to keep using these chips for longer than planned. This could delay purchases of newer products. Nvidia has already been paid for those older chips, but they now compete with new sales. At the same time, big tech firms like Google, Amazon, and Meta are building their own AI chips. Custom chips could take 45% of the AI chip market by 2028, up from 37% in 2024.
