Nvidia commits $105 billion to Ohio data center for OpenAI

Nvidia has agreed to help finance a huge data centre in Ohio that will be used by OpenAI. The facility, called the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus, is in Pike County and will be leased to OpenAI for 20 years. Nvidia will provide up to $105 billion to cover lease and energy costs. It will also be the only supplier of chips for the site. The campus will start with 4.25 gigawatts of computing power and could grow to 8 gigawatts. Nvidia estimates the site will need around 1.5 million of its chips. The company is also investing $1.5 billion directly in SB Energy, the firm that will build the campus. AI companies often need partners to pay for infrastructure because the costs are too high to manage alone.
