Nintendo releases Mario Kart 8 Deluxe update enabling eight-player split-screen on Switch 2

Nintendo has released a free update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that adds eight-player local split-screen on Switch 2. The original Switch only supported four players at once. The update also brings better image quality and faster loading times to Switch 2 owners. A new CameraPlay feature lets players use a camera during local or online multiplayer with two to four players. For security reasons, camera use online is limited to friends only. Up to seven original Switch controllers can connect to a Switch 2, but an eighth player needs a Switch 2 Pro Controller or Joy-Con. The update is free for all Switch users, though most new features only work on Switch 2.
