Nigel Farage resigns from Parliament over undeclared donations investigation

Nigel Farage has said he will leave Parliament in 2026 and then stand again for his Clacton seat. He resigned before a standards investigation could remove him from his role as a lawmaker.

Farage did not declare large gifts from two wealthy supporters before he became an MP. The total was at least five million pounds. He says the money was for personal security, not politics, so he did not need to declare it.

Reform UK also accepted thirty-two thousand pounds from what it thought was a US company. The donors were actually undercover reporters. A senior adviser to Farage arranged the payment, which may have broken UK election law.
