New York mayor says city cannot enforce ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said on Tuesday that his city cannot enforce the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His office looked at the legal options and found that a city mayor has no power to arrest a foreign government leader for an international court. Mamdani still called Netanyahu a war criminal and said federal officials should make the arrest if Netanyahu comes to New York. Legal experts agreed that this kind of enforcement is beyond local government authority. Netanyahu's office rejected Mamdani's statement and called the ICC a kangaroo court. President Trump has already said Netanyahu will not be arrested in the United States.
