NBC news helicopter crashes in Los Angeles killing three people

An NBC news helicopter crashed and caught fire in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, killing at least three people. The helicopter came down in a parking lot near a self-storage facility in the Chatsworth area, around 7 p.m. At least one person who died was on the ground when the aircraft hit. The helicopter had been sent to film a separate accident, where an SUV had hit a city bus on Nordhoff Street. That bus crash injured between six and eight people and killed at least two. After the helicopter crash, fire damaged the tail of the aircraft so badly that officials could not immediately confirm which helicopter it was. News helicopters regularly fly over Los Angeles to cover road accidents and other breaking events.
