Music manager Peter Katsis dies at 69 from heart failure

Peter Katsis, a music manager who worked with some of the biggest names in rock and pop, died on Thursday. He was 69. The cause was complications from congestive heart failure.

Katsis spent 35 years managing artists including Jane's Addiction, the Smashing Pumpkins, Morrissey, and the Backstreet Boys. He was especially skilled at building touring strategies for major live acts.

One of his biggest successes came in 1999, when the Backstreet Boys sold 735,000 concert tickets in a single hour. He won a Pollstar Award for that achievement.
