Museum thieves steal Bronze Age gold collection from Spanish town

Thieves have stolen a 3,000-year-old gold collection from a museum in Villena, Spain. The raid on Thursday morning lasted only a few minutes.

The collection, known as the Treasure of Villena, contains up to 66 pieces, including bracelets, bowls, and ornaments. The objects are made from gold, silver, amber, and iron, and weigh around 10 kilograms. Their value is at least €1.7 million.

The thieves broke a window to get inside. Shortly before the theft, a false alarm was reported at a nearby sports centre. Police believe this was planned to draw security forces away from the museum.
