Murder trial opens for man accused in Tupac Shakur's 1996 death

The murder trial of Duane Davis began in Las Vegas on Monday. Prosecutors say he organised the 1996 shooting that killed rapper Tupac Shakur. Shakur was 25 years old when he died, one week after being shot.

According to prosecutors, Davis planned the attack as revenge. Earlier that evening, Shakur's group had attacked Davis's nephew at a hotel after a boxing match. Davis allegedly gave his nephew a gun, and his nephew fired the shots at Shakur's car.

Davis himself was a passenger in that car, according to a book he wrote in 2019. He has pleaded not guilty to murder.
