Moroccan police stop over 100 people crossing into Spanish enclave

Moroccan police arrested more than 100 people on Saturday after they tried to cross into Ceuta, a small Spanish territory on the northern coast of Africa. The interior ministry said 111 people were arrested, including 109 migrants from sub-Saharan Africa and two Moroccan citizens. The group had gathered near the town of Fnideq and used a mountain route to avoid security checkpoints. The crossing attempt was organised through social media posts that encouraged people to enter Ceuta together. Both Moroccan and Spanish authorities increased security after they saw the online campaign. This happened two weeks after a much larger crossing, when over 72,000 migrants entered Ceuta and at least 96 people died during the attempt.
