Michelle Dockery returns to London stage after seven years

Michelle Dockery will return to the stage in London next year, playing Helen of Troy in a new play called "Bloodsport: After Helen of Troy." The production opens at Stratford East theatre on 3 September 2026 and runs until 10 October. Dockery, best known for her role as Lady Mary Crawley in "Downton Abbey," last appeared in a stage production in 2018.

The play was written by Ava Pickett, whose debut work "1536" won the 2024 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and received an Olivier Award nomination. "1536" is currently running in London's West End. Laura Aikman, known from "Gavin & Stacey," will also appear in the production. It will be her first time performing on stage. Lisa Spirling is directing the show in her first season as Stratford East's artistic director.
