Massachusetts holds primary elections for Senate and House seats

Senator Ed Markey won the Democratic primary in Massachusetts, beating fellow Democrat Seth Moulton for the U.S. Senate nomination. Markey has said he will not run again after this term if he wins the general election. He will face Republican John Deaton in November.

Moulton is leaving his House seat, so six Democrats competed to replace him in the 6th Congressional District. Daniel Koh, who had support from Biden and Harris, raised the most money at $4.7 million. In the 8th District, long-serving Representative Stephen Lynch faced a challenge from attorney Patrick Roath, who actually raised more money than Lynch. In another race, Marjorie Decker faced the same opponent she nearly lost to in 2024, when she won by just 40 votes.
