Manchester Airports Group suffers cyber attack affecting millions of customers

A cyber attack has exposed personal data belonging to 8.7 million customers of Manchester, East Midlands, and Stansted airports. The attack happened in late August, but the company discovered it on 25 August. Hackers accessed data from car park bookings, lounge visits, and airport WiFi sign-ups. The stolen information included email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes, and car registration numbers. In most cases, only email addresses were taken. The airports are all operated by Manchester Airports Group. The company has now contained the breach and brought in specialist advisors to help. Experts warn that stolen personal details can be used for identity theft and fraud. The group has not yet said how many customers it has directly contacted.
