Man loses £1,800 in Amazon impersonation scam using two fraudsters

Dorian Jones, 70, lost £1,800 to scammers who pretended to be Amazon employees. A fraudster called Jones and claimed there was a problem with his account. Jones was suspicious, so he asked for verification. A second fraudster then called him, posing as an official Amazon representative. This person confirmed that the first caller was genuine. Trusting both callers, Jones gave them access to his accounts. The scammers took £1,800 across 12 separate transactions. Jones cancelled his bank cards and reported the crime to police when he realised what had happened. He has not yet recovered the money. Amazon says it never asks customers to share remote access to their devices or make payments outside its website.
