Man buys abandoned Tuscan villa for fifty thousand dollars and renovates it

Graeme Warring bought a six-bedroom villa in Tuscany, Italy, for just $50,000 and moved in within a year of the purchase. Warring, who previously lived in Phoenix, Arizona, chose the property in Pistoia, a town roughly 30 minutes from Florence airport, because his job requires him to travel frequently.

The villa had been empty for decades and needed serious work before anyone could live there. Warring replaced the roof, the electrical wiring, and the plumbing across the three-storey building, which also has two kitchens and a dining room.

He had been looking for somewhere quieter than Phoenix but still close to an international airport. The Tuscany property offered both, at a price far below what similar homes cost in the United States.
