Man, 102, dies after incident at Welsh pub stage

Phillip Ormerod, a 102-year-old man from Cwmbran in South Wales, died in hospital after an incident at a local pub on 1 August. He had reportedly asked a band to play more quietly before someone pushed him off the stage. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died there a few days later.

Ormerod had dementia but was a familiar face at the Crow's Nest pub, where other customers knew and liked him. His son Robert, a retired civil engineer, said his father visited the pub regularly and was a popular figure there.

Gwent Police has opened a criminal investigation into his death.
