Lindsay Clancy murder trial ends in mistrial after jury deadlock

A murder trial in Massachusetts ended without a verdict on Friday after jurors could not agree. Lindsay Clancy is charged with killing her three children at their home. The jury of nine women and three men told the judge three times that they were unable to reach a decision. After the third time, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial.

Three jurors later spoke to NBC News about what happened inside the room. They said most jurors were ready to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity. However, one juror refused to agree, even though they accepted there was reasonable doubt. The defense asked the judge to remove that juror, but he said no. Prosecutors must now decide whether to hold a new trial.
