Lidl cancels parking fine issued to electric car driver

A man in North Lincolnshire received a £90 parking fine after charging his electric car at a Lidl supermarket. Trevor Taylor stopped at the store in Barton-upon-Humber on the evening of 12 July. He used the charging point for just 16 minutes. The car park has out-of-hours restrictions because of anti-social behaviour in the area. Taylor did not know about the restrictions, because an EV app showed the charger as available 24 hours a day. Lidl had put up signs about the rules, but later cancelled the fine. The fine could have been reduced to £45 if paid within 14 days. Lidl has said it will now look at its EV charging rules at sites with parking restrictions.
