James Dyson becomes one of Britain's largest private landowners through farming

James Dyson, the billionaire behind the Dyson appliance brand, has been quietly buying up farmland across England since 2013 and now owns around 35,000 acres, making him one of the country's biggest private landowners. His holdings stretch across several counties, including Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, and Somerset.

Dyson Farming describes itself as the largest farming business in the UK. It grows crops such as wheat, potatoes, and sugar beet, and also raises livestock. One facility in Lincolnshire uses robotic technology to produce strawberries throughout the year inside a large glasshouse.

The business has also reached carbon neutrality, removing more carbon from the atmosphere than it produces. His total landholding is considerably larger than those of several well-known British aristocratic families, including the Duke of Bedford and the Duke of Marlborough.
