Jaguar Land Rover plans 4000 job cuts without government financial support

Jaguar Land Rover has announced plans to cut 4,000 jobs over the next two years. The British car maker wants to save £1.7 billion through the programme. Most of the job losses will affect workers in the UK, where the company employs around 34,000 people. The cuts will mainly hit office roles, and the company says the programme will be voluntary. JLR has faced financial pressure from Chinese competition, US tariffs, and the high cost of moving to electric vehicles. The UK government said it will not give the company bailout money. Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the government would instead help affected workers find new jobs. JLR already received a government-backed loan of £1.5 billion last September.
