Israeli airstrikes kill 11 people in southern Lebanon

Israeli airstrikes killed at least 11 people in southern Lebanon on August 15, 2026. The dead included three children and two women. Lebanese authorities called it the deadliest day since a ceasefire began in June. One strike hit a house near Ansar village. Another hit the Zahrani area during the day. Israeli forces also struck the Ali al-Taher ridge and shelled the Nabatieh area. In the border town of Bint Jbeil, they blew up several homes. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said the strikes broke the framework agreement and violated international law. The attacks happened just before planned peace talks between Israel and Lebanon, supported by the United States. Israel and Lebanon agreed to the ceasefire on June 19, with a fuller deal following on June 26.
