Irish government jet retrieves extradited crime boss from Dubai

An Irish government jet flew to Dubai on Saturday to bring back Daniel Kinahan, who is accused of leading one of Ireland's most powerful criminal gangs. The aircraft left Baldonnel airport near Dublin at 10:30am and landed in Dubai at around 7:00pm Irish time. Several Gardaí, the Irish police, travelled on the jet. Kinahan, 49, was arrested in the United Arab Emirates in April after Ireland and the UAE signed an extradition agreement the year before. Officials chose this particular jet because it can reach Dubai without stopping to refuel. Kinahan had been living in the UAE for some years before his arrest. The return flight to Dublin was expected on Sunday afternoon.
