Inquiry finds hospital failures enabled Lucy Letby murders

A report published on Tuesday has found that Countess of Chester Hospital could have prevented some of Lucy Letby's murders. Letby, a nurse, was convicted of killing several babies in her care. The report, called the Thirlwall report, criticised the hospital for not acting quickly enough when staff raised concerns about her. At least three deaths could have been stopped if the hospital had responded properly. The report found serious failures in the way the hospital managed the situation. Following the findings, plans will be developed urgently to put live-streaming cameras into hospital wards. The cameras are intended to improve safety for patients in future.
