Infantino secures over 200 FIFA member endorsements for re-election

Gianni Infantino looks set to win a fourth term as FIFA president. More than 200 of FIFA's 211 member associations have formally backed his re-election. The vote will take place at FIFA's congress in March.

Infantino has led FIFA since 2016. Before that, he worked as UEFA's Secretary General for seven years. Only a small number of associations have not yet declared their support. Germany is the most notable football association that has not officially backed him.

Some European associations and UEFA have shown opposition on certain issues. There has also been recent unrest over a red card decision involving player Folarin Balogun, which drew lobbying from Donald Trump. Despite this, Infantino is expected to win by a very large margin.
