Indian cargo ship sinks after attack in Red Sea off Yemen

A cargo ship flying an Indian flag has sunk in the Red Sea after being hit by an explosive boat on August 4, 2026. The vessel, MSV Faize Noore Oliya, went down about 13 nautical miles south of Al-Kheda, near Yemen. All 14 crew members survived. The Yemeni Coast Guard rescued them and brought them to the Port of Mokha. Thirteen of the crew were Indian nationals. Yemen's transportation ministry, which supports the government, blamed Houthi fighters for the attack. The Houthis are backed by Iran. They did not respond to the accusation. Houthi groups have attacked many ships in the Red Sea recently, and Indian refiners have already started buying oil from other suppliers because of the danger.
