Immigration agent fatally shoots man during Houston traffic stop

An ICE agent shot and killed a Mexican man during a traffic stop in Houston on Tuesday. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 52, was driving to work when immigration agents stopped his white van. ICE said the agent fired in self-defence after Salgado Araujo tried to escape and hit the officer's vehicle. However, officials later admitted he was not the person they were looking for. Agents had confused his van with another vehicle they were watching. His family said he was in the process of getting a work permit. Democratic members of Congress have called for an independent investigation. This is at least the eighth shooting by an ICE agent since the current administration took office and expanded the agency's powers.
