ICE agents involved in fatal shootings lacked body cameras

ICE agents who fatally shot a Mexican national in Houston were not wearing body cameras. A separate fatal shooting in Biddeford, Maine also involved agents without cameras. Both incidents happened in recent weeks.

After two fatal shootings by federal immigration agents in January, the Department of Homeland Security promised to give body cameras to all its law enforcement officers quickly. More than five months later, that process is still not complete.

DHS says delays happened because federal funding was interrupted. The agency has said more offices will receive cameras within 60 days.
