Houthis attack Saudi tankers as US strikes Iran for 12th night

Yemen's Houthi group attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea on July 22 and 23, 2026. The group used missiles and drones to hit the Encelia and the Layla. The Encelia caught fire at the front of the ship after a missile strike near the Saudi port of Jizan. All crew members were safe. The Houthis said the attacks are part of a blockade they have placed on Saudi Arabia. At the same time, the United States carried out its twelfth night of airstrikes on Iranian cities, including Bushehr and Ahvaz. Iran's foreign minister warned that his country will respond to any threat with equal force. A ceasefire between the US and Iran broke down earlier in July.
