Houthi attacks wound civilians in Saudi Arabia and kill troops in Yemen

Houthi rebels fired missiles and drones at targets in Saudi Arabia and Yemen on Thursday, August 7, 2026. More than ten civilians were hurt in Saudi Arabia's Najran region, close to the Yemen border. They included a four-year-old child, as well as Saudi, Egyptian, Yemeni, and Pakistani nationals. The rebels also struck military camps in Yemen's Marib and Hadramout provinces, killing at least 30 government soldiers and wounding 50 more. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said the attacks were a response to a military build-up by Saudi-backed forces. These are the first Houthi strikes on Saudi Arabia since an informal truce began in March 2022. The attacks have broken that truce and represent one of the most serious escalations in the Yemen conflict since then.
