House passes bill to make daylight saving time permanent

The Senate passed a similar bill in 2022, so there is some support for the change. Currently, federal law does not allow permanent daylight saving time. The new bill would keep clocks one hour ahead all year. Supporters say this would improve safety and help the economy. Some people disagree, because winter mornings would stay dark longer, and children would go to school before sunrise. Hawaii and most of Arizona already use permanent standard time and would not be affected by the new law.
