Homeowner uses strawberry containers to protect peaches from squirrels

A homeowner has found a simple way to stop squirrels from eating the peaches on her backyard tree. After squirrels destroyed her entire harvest for several years in a row, she decided to try placing old plastic strawberry containers around individual pieces of fruit. The containers, which normally hold supermarket strawberries, have small ventilation slots that let the fruit breathe while keeping animals out. She secured each container with a plastic lock and found that they stayed firmly in place even during heavy thunderstorms. Around six peaches were protected this way. The unprotected fruit on the same tree was eaten by squirrels as usual, while the covered peaches survived undamaged. The method costs nothing, since the containers would otherwise be thrown away.
