Greek military jet crashes at airshow, killing both pilots

Two Greek Air Force pilots died on Saturday when their F-4 Phantom jet crashed at an airshow near Athens. The aircraft went down during a low-altitude display move, about two kilometres from the runway at Tanagra Air Base, roughly 60 kilometres north of the city. The crash started a large fire. Eighty-five firefighters and eleven aircraft worked to bring it under control. Spectators were not in danger, and nobody in the crowd was hurt. Organisers stopped the rest of the show and cleared the area. Greece announced three days of military mourning for the two pilots. The F-4 Phantom has been used by several NATO air forces for many years. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
