Grandmother's overnight visit helps anxious grandson adjust to family changes

A grandmother recently hosted her two grandsons for an overnight stay, and the visit went better than expected. At drop-off, the older boy held tightly to his father and asked for several hugs before he would let him leave. His father told him he could phone before bed if he needed to. The grandmother kept the boys busy with toys, a home-cooked meal, a shower, and a film with popcorn. By bedtime, the older grandson had settled so well that he never made that call. The boys have been moving between parents for around eighteen months and are currently adjusting to several changes at once, including a new home, a new sibling, and a new school. His younger brother had been copying his anxious behaviour throughout the day.
