France approves social media ban for children under 15

France has voted to stop children under 15 from using social media, making it the first EU country to do this. Both houses of parliament approved the bill on Tuesday. The ban will start in September. President Emmanuel Macron has strongly supported the law, calling it one of the most important reforms of his time in office. French Digital Minister Anne Le Henanff shared the news on social media after the vote. The new law also bans mobile phones in secondary schools, starting at the beginning of the school year.
