Four ambulances destroyed in arson attack on London Jewish charity

Someone set fire to four Jewish community ambulances in North London in the early hours of 23 March 2026. The vehicles belonged to Hatzola, a Jewish ambulance service, and were parked near a synagogue in Golders Green. Police believe an accelerant was poured on the ambulances before they were set alight. Gas canisters inside the vehicles exploded during the fire, breaking windows in a nearby block of flats. About 30 residents had to leave their homes and move to a local shelter. Three ambulances were completely destroyed and one was badly damaged, with total losses estimated at £1 million. CCTV footage showed three hooded figures dressed in black at the scene. Five men have been charged. The Metropolitan Police are treating the attack as an antisemitic hate crime, investigated by counter-terrorism officers.
