Former nurse on trial for killing three children, claims mental illness defense

A former nurse in Massachusetts is on trial for killing her three children in 2022. Lindsay Clancy, now 36, strangled the children but has pleaded not guilty. Her defense team says she had postpartum psychosis at the time, a rare and serious mental illness that can follow childbirth. Because of this, they argue she was not responsible for her actions. Prosecutors disagree. They say she knew what she was doing and acted deliberately. The defense rested its case last Friday after five weeks of testimony. Witnesses for the defense said Clancy had asked for mental health help before the killings. Around 300 people, mostly women, held a rally to support her. The case has received wide attention on social media.
