Flash floods kill hundreds near Nepal-Tibet border region

A massive flood has killed at least 626 people in Nepal and 7 in Tibet after a glacier or lake collapsed on Wednesday morning. The disaster hit communities along the Trishuli River in Nepal's Rasuwa district, destroying buildings, bridges, and roads. Around 2,400 people are still missing, including more than 800 foreign nationals from countries such as India, the United States, and Australia. The region is popular with trekkers and pilgrims, which explains why so many visitors were caught in the disaster. Rescue teams of over 5,000 soldiers and police have been searching for survivors, but bad weather has made helicopter operations difficult. By Friday, workers had recovered 469 bodies. About 93,000 people have been affected in total.
