Fauci's private diaries criticize journalist's Covid lab leak investigation

Anthony Fauci's private diaries have been released, and they show his strong opinions about a journalist who wrote about Covid-19's origins.

Fauci was the top medical adviser in the United States at the start of the pandemic. In his diary, he criticised Australian journalist Sharri Markson, whose 2021 book argued that Covid-19 may have come from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. He wrote that her reporting "does not make any sense" and called it "a bunch of nonsense." He also wrote that "the same old crap is going on with the far right continuing to attack me."

Markson's book claimed that China hid the truth about the virus's origins. Fauci was later called to speak at a Senate hearing into Covid-19.
