Drone strikes damage Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline

Drones launched from Iraq hit Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline on September 10, 2026, damaging pumping stations in two regions. The pipeline is about 1,200 kilometres long and carries crude oil to the Red Sea. Saudi Arabia shut it down after the attack to prevent further problems. Several workers were hurt and needed medical treatment. Satellite images taken three days later showed serious fire damage at the facilities. Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry confirmed the drones came from Iraq and warned it may respond. Experts say the shutdown could remove around 4% of global oil supplies from the market. Oil traders have warned that if the closure continues, Saudi Arabia's available oil stocks could run out within days.
