Defense startup Furientis raises five million dollars for missile interceptors

A U.S. defence startup called Furientis raised $5 million in May 2026 to build cheaper interceptor missiles for naval ships. The company came out of stealth after about a year of quiet development. Founders Brody Franzen and Aris Simsarian both spent roughly ten years as aerospace engineers before starting the company in 2025. Their goal is to produce each missile for around $250,000, which is far less than the $1–5 million that similar weapons currently cost. To achieve this, Furientis uses manufacturing methods borrowed from the car industry and relies on widely available commercial parts. The company wants to make 1,000 missiles per year at a single factory. Silent Ventures led the funding round, with Bessemer Venture Partners and several other investors also taking part.
