Cuisinart recalls 1.72 million grill brushes due to detaching bristles

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled around 1.72 million Cuisinart grill brushes in July 2026 because small metal bristles can break off and cause serious injuries. The brushes were made by Conair and sold at major stores, including Amazon and TJ Maxx, between 2009 and 2026. Eight different models are included in the recall.

Conair received at least 54 reports of bristles coming loose. In three cases, people accidentally swallowed bristles and needed medical treatment to have them removed. Detached bristles can stick to grill grates or food without being noticed, and swallowing them may require emergency surgery.

Owners can receive a full refund or store credit, plus an extra 20 percent, if they throw away the affected brush. The recall happened during Fourth of July weekend, one of the busiest grilling periods of the year.
