Crypto billionaire matches £36m donation to Reform UK party

Christopher Harborne gave £36 million to Reform UK on 12 September, one day after Ben Delo made an identical donation. Together, the two gifts total £72 million in just 48 hours.

Both men made their money in cryptocurrency. Harborne holds British and Thai citizenship, while Delo recently moved to Britain from Hong Kong. Harborne said he decided to donate after he heard about Delo's gift, describing it as a competitive reaction. He said he expects nothing in return, including no seat in the House of Lords.

The combined £72 million is more than all UK political parties received together in the previous year. New rules limit donations from British citizens living abroad to £100,000 per year, backdated to March.
