Country singer Dolly Parton's husband Carl Dean dies at 82

Carl Thomas Dean, husband of country music star Dolly Parton, died on 3 March at the age of 82. The couple had been married for nearly 60 years.

Dean and Parton first met outside a laundromat in Tennessee in 1964. They married two years later in a small, private ceremony in Georgia. Parton was 18 and Dean was 21.

While Parton became one of the most famous singers in country music, Dean chose to stay out of the public eye. He ran an asphalt-paving business in Nashville and almost never appeared at industry events.
