Counterfeit iPhones sold online at prices below retail value

The Arlington Police Department warned the public in late April about fake iPhones being sold online. Sellers are offering counterfeit devices, including fake iPhone Pro Max models, for between $700 and $1,000. Real versions cost around $1,399. The phones arrive in sealed boxes and have cloned identification numbers that can pass early checks. However, buyers have noticed problems. Some boxes show smudged printing or unusual labels. Some display more than one identification number. The devices themselves may have a misaligned camera or fail to connect to iCloud. Police say scam websites often use domain names that include words like "iPhone" or "early offer." Buyers should inspect packaging and test the device carefully before accepting any purchase.
