CBS News editor replaces 60 Minutes leadership and staff

Bari Weiss, the new editor in chief of CBS News, has made major changes to 60 Minutes, one of America's most popular news programmes. Weiss took the job in October 2025 and quickly reorganised the show's leadership. She removed executive producer Tanya Simon and replaced her with Nick Bilton, a technology journalist who had never worked in TV news before. Two correspondents, Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi, lost their jobs. Scott Pelley, who had worked at the programme for more than 20 years, also left. Anderson Cooper retired from the show in May 2026. That same month, Bilton officially took over. The new season launched with updated graphics, fresh correspondents, and changes to how stories are chosen and presented.
