Canada trade minister meets U.S. representative over tariff concerns

Canada's trade minister, Dominic LeBlanc, met with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in Washington on March 6 to talk about tariffs and trade rules between the two countries. The talks focused on a planned review of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico trade agreement, which must begin on July 1. LeBlanc said Canada will not slow down the process. However, Greer suggested the U.S. is unlikely to settle all issues before that date. LeBlanc also said he feels positive about separate talks with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick about tariffs on specific industries. Canada's ambassador has been meeting Greer's team for months to seek tariff relief. The two sides made no formal announcement after the meeting.
