Cambridge University launches review after professor Jason Arday dies

Cambridge University has announced an independent review after the death of Professor Jason Arday, who was 41. Arday died on Friday, days after leaving his role at the university. Police were called to an address in Battersea by the London Ambulance Service. His death was unexpected but not suspicious.

Arday had resigned the week before after allegations that he had copied others' work and exaggerated details about his life. He admitted some mistakes but said he had not plagiarised. Cambridge's review will be led by Nazir Afzal OBE and will look at how the university supported Arday and how it handled his appointment. Glasgow and Durham universities, where Arday had previously worked, have also announced reviews. Arday was one of very few Black professors in the UK.
