BTS declines Grammy submission over new Asian pop category

BTS has said it will not enter its music for the 2027 Grammy Awards. All seven members posted the same statement on Instagram in February 2027. They said they believe music should not be separated by region or language. The announcement came about one month after the Grammys created a new category for Asian pop music. BTS did not name this category directly in their statement. The Recording Academy introduced the award to give more artists a chance to be recognised. BTS's album Arirang had been expected to do well in top Grammy categories, including album of the year. The group has received five Grammy nominations in the past, three of them for Best Pop Duo Group Performance.
